Average teen Sam Martin (Hilary Duff) lives with her stepmother (Jennifer Coolidge) and stepsisters after her father dies. Her meager social status is overshadowed by that of popular Shelby (Julie Gonzalo), a rather ditzy but very pretty girl. Things change when an intriguing hottie (Chad Michael Murray) finds Sam’s cell phone, starting a text and email relationship. When the time comes for them to meet, can Sam win him over face to face?
